Best & Worst – Emmys 2013

There were a lot of predictions going in to the 65th Annual Emmy Awards. Besides the obvious question will “Breaking Bad” finally win Best Drama? (Answer: yes!) Even before Neil Patrick Harris kicked off the show, many of us were glued to our televisions, computers, and in my case my iPhone to see if our favorite celebrities were going to make it or break it on the red carpet.  Some of the anticipated looks leading up to TV’s big night included pastels, bold hues, floral prints, and black/white – all trends that were just seen during New York Fashion Week.  There were a lot of upsets both during the awards ceremony and the red carpet leading up to it’s broadcast (seen by over 30 million viewers around the world). Not paying attention to outside influences I have narrowed down my favorite looks, honorable mentions, and worst dressed women of the evening. I’m curious how my picks line up with yours so please feel free and give me feedback!

Getting Ready for Fall

Screen shot 2013-09-03 at 8.59.42 PM

As much as I will miss the warm Summer months and all the fun excursions that Summer entails; along with many Chicagoans I am looking forward to my favorite season – Fall.  I would like to think that Fall is the beginning of the calendar season in a way.  Once the leaves start to change and those Pumpkin Spice lattes make their way back to the local coffee house I know it is time to put away the sandals and shorts.  It is time to plan some tailgating days with friends and unpack my favorite sweaters and leather jackets.  But wait, what am I forgetting in September that really gets me excited? New York Fashion Week!! I love seeing the trends for the next season, in this case Spring/Summer 2014.  It can be confusing to think about the next season when we have barely entered the first month of Autumn.  We live in a society of “what’s next?” so when you really think about it Fashion is just staying consistent with that mentality.  Based on the looks that are well received during the shows or back in the designers’ showrooms it will take months of reworking and actual production so Resort collections and SS14 (Spring/Summer) get delivered on time for when clients start going on vacations or migrate to second homes, etc.  The following is a list of some of my favorite designers and when they will be showing their collection at Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek which you can watch live streamed on or on once they have happened:
