What to Wear: Green Tie Ball

Green Tie Ball is Chicago Gateway Green’s biggest fundraising event. The infamous gala, returning each year with a new and exciting theme, raises money for Chicago Gateway Green’s Expressway Partnership Program, which creates and maintains beautiful, sustainable landscapes along Chicago’s major expressways thereby reducing air and noise pollution and landscaping the gateways into the city’s communities. With the Green Tie Ball just a few days away it’s time to start planning your look for the Studio54 themed charity event. Here are a few of my favorite options for this Saturday’s event. WGN Midday Fix: Golden Globes Inspired Looks for Everyday

I loved watching the Golden Globes red carpet. Picking my favorite looks and of course watching the actual awards show and finding out who won in each category. This year I was really paying attention to red carpet trends and I was wondering how I could incorporate my favorite looks from the Globes and create more wearable versions for everyday. Read More

Getting Ready for Fall

Screen shot 2013-09-03 at 8.59.42 PM

As much as I will miss the warm Summer months and all the fun excursions that Summer entails; along with many Chicagoans I am looking forward to my favorite season – Fall.  I would like to think that Fall is the beginning of the calendar season in a way.  Once the leaves start to change and those Pumpkin Spice lattes make their way back to the local coffee house I know it is time to put away the sandals and shorts.  It is time to plan some tailgating days with friends and unpack my favorite sweaters and leather jackets.  But wait, what am I forgetting in September that really gets me excited? New York Fashion Week!! I love seeing the trends for the next season, in this case Spring/Summer 2014.  It can be confusing to think about the next season when we have barely entered the first month of Autumn.  We live in a society of “what’s next?” so when you really think about it Fashion is just staying consistent with that mentality.  Based on the looks that are well received during the shows or back in the designers’ showrooms it will take months of reworking and actual production so Resort collections and SS14 (Spring/Summer) get delivered on time for when clients start going on vacations or migrate to second homes, etc.  The following is a list of some of my favorite designers and when they will be showing their collection at Mercedes-Benz FashionWeek which you can watch live streamed on http://newyork.mbfashionweek.com/live or on http://www.style.com once they have happened:
